Conscious and conflict

I believe the author managed to portray various parameters and emotions in a healthy and crisp manner, the poetry topics kept on changing like parallels in a good way and the prose writing was quite well done too.

Conscience & Conflict is an anthology of poetry and short stories. The poems talk about various themes including racism, choices, fears, heartbreak and evolution. The short stories are based on unique themes like harms of simulation sports and super-soldiers at a german camp during WWII.

Zauraiz Sohail has a very simple way of writing that's entrancing but also very easy to understand. The ever present rhymes in the poems are commendable and are fun to read. The book begins with a powerful poem that's melancholic and carries an omnious tone that grips you right from the beginning. It's very refreshing to read a young author's perspective of life! I loved the personal touch that the author has given to some poems because that made them more relatable. There was one story called 'The Smell Of Silence' based on the US invasion of Iraq and that hit really deep.

Written in simple style but carrying profound message, this book encourages introspection. Recommended if you read poetry with the above mentioned themes!

This work suggests government and public authorities must improve young people’s representation on participatory platforms and review access to support. Schools, youth organisations and service providers should review forums for engaging young people in decision-making. As for media, it must balance the portrayal of young people during the pandemic, from involving them in reporting roles to covering their personal stories. “The report asks difficult questions about why young people’s voices have been so absent from decision-making during the pandemic. Far from being naïve, young people spoke lucidly about their experiences of family life, friendships, access to education and healthcare. They held strong views about political and public responses to the crisis, and about what actions are needed, supported by their own research. Listening to young people is a starting point. But more than this, the work concludes that there is a need for action, results, and accountability. To overlook young people as partners in the recovery from the COVID-19 crisis would be a failure of imagination by the political leaders who are elected to represent them.”
