Majaazi Khuda-An Antidote to Misandry

This book was powerful, vulnerable, and effective in its message. The prose does not read like a clinical exposition, but it is no less enlightening in its analysis of the myth of "Man".

The book is written as loosely connected chapters, each exploring different facets of the myth, in one continuous stream of consciousness. The book reads how a dream feels, leaving readers with a sense that they have just witnessed something vulnerable, that they are in a better position to understand and empathize with both the feminine first person narrator, and the masculine object of the myth, without feeling like an oversimplification.

From the evenhanded approach clearly visible in the exposition of inter-gender relations, the central idea of the title, "An antidote to misandry" is developed very naturally and gradually.

It is quite a feat of eloquence to be able to compress such big ideas in a relatively very small book, easily read in an hour. Therefore, I recommend this book wholeheartedly and consider it completely deserving of the 5 stars I am giving it.

With courage and kindness Uswa took me for a ride into the depths of her imaginings. A journey of quiet longing tries to articulate the love and hate between Man and Woman. Her writings represent to me a universal longing for union with the whole. A desire that almost always leads to heart wrenching results. Few are those that have the guts to chart these waters and then guide many a lost traveler. Uswa’s journey has just begun and I wish her luck not just for her but for my own sake as well.
