About Daastan

Daastan exists because talent has never been the scarce thing in Pakistan — access has. A writer with a finished manuscript and no contacts had nowhere obvious to take it, and we set out to be that place.

We handle a book end to end: editing, cover and interior design, an ISBN from our own registered block, printing, and distribution to bookshops and online. Royalties are paid on every copy sold and tracked on a dashboard the author can open any day of the week.

A book does not end at the printer, so neither do we. Launches, literary evenings and festival appearances put our writers in front of readers, and a title stays on sale long after its publication day.

The Ripple by Mahnoor Kareem - Daastan

Daastan, founded on the very notion of being able to tell your stories by putting one's word out there in the world as a whole, becoming a part of this universe; materializes its principles through the journey of thousands of authors we have published. One such journey is that of Mahnoor Kareem, a teenager from Rawalpindi who grew up aspiring to be an exceptional author and chose to become one of them. From finishing a book in a single day to becoming the author of one, she is a treasured Daastan-published author. In an interview, she revealed that her father used to write short stories for so

about books from this publisher

Sharp prose. Intriguing. Makes you think. The start with the question of 'who am I' and the build up gave me chills. Great effort on the part of the author, would definitely recommend you pick it up.

To be able to introduce so many necessary elements of depth plaguing our country in a piece so short, and being able to involve the reader with equal ferocity, is truly a sign of skill and the creative mind. Omer Malik has forced us to reconsider the perceptions of the society we live in, as well as much of our own. Brilliant read.
